Therapeutic Academic, Social Skills, and Daily Living Support

What It Looks Like

Daily Living Skills

  • Teaching independence in routines such as dressing, toileting, brushing teeth, handwashing, and mealtime routines.

  • Breaking each task into manageable steps and teaching with prompts, visuals, modeling, and reinforcement.

  • Practicing skills in natural environments (bathroom, kitchen, bedroom) to ensure carryover into daily life.

Academic Skills

  • Supporting early learning goals like letter recognition, sounds, counting, writing, and reading comprehension.

  • Using structured teaching methods, visuals, and repetition to help your child succeed in areas aligned with their school curriculum.

  • Focusing on building attention, following instructions, and increasing tolerance for structured work.

Social Skills

  • Guided play and peer interaction to practice sharing, turn-taking, and cooperative games.

  • Role-playing and modeling conversations, greetings, and perspective-taking.

  • Emotion regulation strategies such as recognizing feelings, asking for breaks, and coping with frustration.

Outcomes You Can Expect

  • Greater Independence: Children become more confident in completing self-care and home routines with less adult support.

  • Stronger Academic Readiness: Improved attention, work completion, and foundational literacy/numeracy skills to help with school success.

  • Improved Communication & Relationships: Increased ability to make friends, engage in cooperative play, and handle social situations more effectively.

  • Better Emotional Regulation: Children develop coping strategies that reduce frustration, meltdowns, or avoidance, helping them feel calmer and more in control.

  • Family Relief & Confidence: Parents and caregivers experience reduced stress knowing their child can manage more on their own, and feel empowered with strategies that work at home.

Assessment & Pairing

Before we begin in-person support, we start with an assessment and pairing phase. This important first step allows us to:

  • Understand Your Child’s Needs and Goals: Through caregiver input, observation, and skill-based assessments, we identify your child’s strengths and areas for growth. This ensures that any goals we set are meaningful, achievable, and aligned with your family’s priorities.

  • Build Trust and Comfort (Pairing): At the same time, we focus on bonding with your child. We follow their lead, join in their favorite activities, and create a positive environment where they feel safe, supported, and excited to participate. This process helps your child see staff as a source of fun and encouragement, not just instruction.

Outcomes of This Stage

  • A clear, individualized plan of goals tailored to your child’s developmental needs.

  • A foundation of trust and familiarity that helps your child feel comfortable working with us.

  • A smooth transition into therapy sessions where learning feels fun, safe, and engaging.
